New Favorite Emerges In Arch Manning Recruiting Sweepstakes

New Favorite Emerges In Arch Manning Recruiting Sweepstakes

Arch Manning is unquestionably the top high school football prospect in the nation right now. The mania surrounding his recruitment and eventual collegiate decision has reached levels of hysteria not seen since LeBron James coming out of school.

How insane of a following does Arch have? Well, a harmless video of him giving an unserious commitment to a random blonde in bed went mega-viral. That’s how crazy things have gotten.

By all accounts, Arch is giving legitimate consideration to three programs.

That said – one has clearly emerged as the favorite.

According to On3 Sports’ prediction model, the Texas Longhorns have the best chance to land the talented youngster right now.

“The Longhorns now have a 38.1-percent chance of landing Manning. Texas’ move to the top spot is a big development, but so is the shift in the second-place spot,” Jeremy Crabtree of On3 Recruiting wrote. “Georgia is now second, according to the On3 RPM, with a 32.5-percent chance followed by Alabama at 27.2-percent.”

It will be interesting to see how things ultimately shake out here. It goes without saying that Texas being the favorite now doesn’t mean they’ll come away with Manning. Never underestimate the Longhorns’ penchant for disappointing fans and humiliating the program.

At the moment, only one major program has truly been ruled out of contention for Arch’s services. Everyone else is still at least somewhat in the running – including a fairly surprising dark horse.

Last year Arch recorded 1,913 yards and 26 touchdowns through the air in 10 games. Beyond that, he also chipped in 381 yards and six scores on the ground.

The hype is real. The kid is a legit difference maker.

Where will he ultimately end up when it’s all said and done? Time will tell.
