Russell Westbrook’s Blunt Reaction To Lakers Hiring Darvin Ham
Darvin Ham was officially hired to serve as the Los Angeles Lakers’ next head coach this week.
LeBron James responded to the move with pure exuberance.
So damn EXCITED!!!!!!!! Congrats and welcome Coach DHam!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 #LakeShow💜💛

James’ teammate, Russell Westbrook, offered something of a muted response.
Understandably, folks couldn’t help but notice the lack of enthusiasm there.
LAKERS: Hey can you just pretend to be excited. We need people to believe you’re coming back
RUSS: …
Lakers: Please? We promise not to send you to Indiana

Yikes.
You would think given all the problems Westbrook had with his old Lakers coach, Frank Vogel, he would be doing everything in his power to get off on the right foot with his new one.
Nope.
Compare Westbrook’s reaction to Ham’s hiring to the one he offered to Savannah James’ recent provocative photos. The difference is telling.
Ham previously served as an assistant with the Lakers from 2011-2013. Now he takes the reigns of a squad that finished 33-49 last year and missed the playoffs. One of the big things he has been tasked with already is figuring out what to do with Westbrook.
There are presently 4 squads who are willing to take Westbrook off the Lakers’ hands, but it won’t be cheap.

That means there is a very good chance he returns in 2022-23.
How will Westbrook and Ham ultimately mesh?
Time will tell.
