Lawsuit Between Vanessa Bryant And Mom Takes Interesting Turn

Lawsuit Between Vanessa Bryant And Mom Takes Interesting Turn

An ugly lawsuit between Vanessa Bryant and her mother Sofia Laine took an interesting turn this week.

At the end of last year, Laine came out and made some pretty damning accusations against her daughter. Further explanations only added fuel to the fire. It caused a massive media reaction.

Bryant promptly responded, earning a lot of sympathy and support from the pubic.

Then the matter died down a bit.

This week, however, a new development emerged.

According to HollywoodLife.com, evidence from a settlement dispute Laine had with her ex-husband is now being used in this particular case.

“At the time, Sofia’s ex-husband, who was not identified by the outlet, claimed he should not have to pay Laine because she was being supported by Kobe and Vanessa,” the report noted.

“Sofia allegedly responded that her daughter and son-in-law had no obligation to support her financially, and that anything she received was simply out of kindness.

“According to the new court documents, Vanessa Bryant claims Sofia’s ex-husband cited tabloid stories which, at one time, claimed Vanessa bought a $1 million home for Sofia, and therefore wasn’t in need of support. Bryant’s lawyers are also arguing Laine would have had to file a creditor’s claim within a year of Kobe’s death to receive benefits from his estate, which she purportedly did not do.”

Bryant has been a model of stability and class ever since the passing of her husband and teenage daughter last year.

Between bringing bad-acting police officers to justice, sending special gifts to celebs like Kim Kardashian in hopes of keeping Kobe’s memory alive, or saving her late husband’s fans from scams, she has handled the last year and change shockingly well.

Whether that will ultimately lend the Bryant family matriarch some good fortune in her legal affairs remains to be seen.
