Nate Diaz Sparks Controversy Over Racial Slur In USADA Video
Nate Diaz is in the process of preparing for the final fight on his UFC contract.
The 37-year-old’s looming bout against Khamzat Chimaev on September 10, 2022 at UFC 279 is one of the most highly-anticipated MMA match-ups of the year.
Ahead of the big showdown, Diaz (as is the case with all UFC fighters) is subject to USADA testing.
This week Diaz offered a glimpse into what that process looks like for him:

While many loved Diaz’s attitude and behavior in the clip, some others took exception to a racial slur he used in it. The reactions largely speak for themselves:
He said the N-word ?

Diaz has built up a certain brand for himself over the years, which is precisely why he has amassed as much money as he has throughout his career.
That said, it will be interesting to see if that brand is strong enough to protect him from any and all backlash.
Conor McGregor was and is a deeply beloved fighter in some segments as well, but that hasn’t prevented him catching blowback for his feuds with celebrity musicians and alleged crimes.

Will Diaz need to address this matter or will he be able to just move past it with minimal residual damage?
Time will tell.
