NFL Safety Deshazor Everett Gets House Arrest Over GF’s Death

In December of 2021 former Washington Commanders safety Deshazor Everett was involved in an incident that resulted in the death of his girlfriend, Olivia Peters.

On Thursday of this week he learned his fate for his role in what happened.

Despite facing a year in prison, the 30-year-old wound up walking away with just 3 months of house arrest.

The original sentence was 12 months of house arrest – but 9 of those months were suspended.

On Dec. 23 of last year Everett and Peters were driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R that veered off the road, hit multiple trees and then rolled over.

Peters died at a hospital shortly thereafter.

A follow-up investigation noted that Everett was going more than twice the posted speed limit before the accident. He was originally charged with felony involuntary manslaughter. Then, back in July, Everett pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving.

This week, a judge decided to give him the 3 months of house arrest, a $2,500 fine and 100 hours of community service.

Everett spent 7 years with Washington before ultimately being released in March. He served as a special teams captain and backup safety for the team.

This has been a brutal year for the NFL as a whole. Between players dying in unfortunate tragedies, guys having their lives changed forever with one bad decision and now this – it has been one thing after another.

With the 2022-23 NFL campaign kicking off this week, the hope is that the new season brings forth better lucky and more positive news stories than the last one did.

As for Everett, time will tell what the future holds for him. First he will need to fulfill the terms of his punishment, and then clarity on what comes next will likely emerge.

Any way it goes from here, though – there is no denying that this is an incredibly sad story.
