Carson Wentz, Jalen Reagor Already Injured For Eagles
The NFL season has not even begun yet and the Philadelphia Eagles are already banged up.
On Sunday, wide receiver Jalen Reagor suffered a shoulder injury during something of a botched play. Following an interception thrown by rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts, Reagor was forced to make a tackle.
That tackle resulted in him hurting his shoulder.
imagine this being real:
Jalen Reagor was injured making a tackle on a Jalen Hurts interception who was playing more because Carson Wentz was resting due to a soft tissue issue.
(also, offensive players tackling defenders returning turnovers is unnecessary) https://t.co/Y4B4svhUJc

Reagor was taken with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by Philly. The TCU product was selected ahead of CeeDee Lamb out of Oklahoma and Justin Jefferson out of LSU, despite both having a higher profile than him during their collegiate playing days.
The Eagles were bombarded by injuries in 2019 and it nearly cost them a postseason berth. You will recall, this is a group that at one point trotted out Mack Hollins, JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Greg Ward to catch passes in an actual regular season game.
If not for the general ineptness of the Dallas Cowboys and the overall weakness of the their terrible division, they likely would have missed the playoffs altogether.
The expectation was that Reagor would come in and immediately be Philly’s top receiver.
Now that is suddenly in doubt.
Reagor wasn’t the only Eagles player injured this week.
Quarterback Carson Wentz is day-to-day with a “soft tissue” injury. The team is calling this ailment a “minor” one, but it remains to be seen how true that is.
#Eagles QB Carson Wentz is day-to-day with a minor soft tissue injury and isn’t practicing today. It’s considered minor and the team is being cautious and making sure he’s good to go for the season.

Wentz has something of a colorful history when it comes to getting hurt.
The Eagles picked up the former North Dakota State University standout with the second overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. He initially set the NFL on fire in 2017 and earned a Pro Bowl nod for his troubles.

Unfortunately, in 2017, he also began going down a path that would earn him the “injury prone” label he currently wears.
In December of 2017, he suffered a torn ACL while diving into the end zone.
In December of 2018, Wentz was put on the injured reserve list over a back injury.
In January 2019, the Eagles star was knocked out of the team’s NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks with a concussion.
Now, before the 2020 season could even officially commence, he is already dealing with a “soft tissue” injury.
The NFL is gonna have an interesting Week 1. https://t.co/tCfGuosrgk

Philly needs a healthy offense in order to be competitive this year. They cannot simply count on another year of the NFC East being the NFC East.
The Cowboys will be better without Jason Garrett’s uncertain contract status injecting dysfunction into the locker room. The New York Giants will see improvement with another year of experience for Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones. The Washington Football team, well, they will still be terrible.
If the injuries are already piling up for the Eagles this early on, it’s scary to think what will happen when the season actually begins.
