USC Coach Andy Enfield Speaks On Bronny’s Lack Of Conditioning

USC coach Andy Enfield spoke to the media this week following the Trojans’ recent loss to Oregon.

Specifically, Enfield took a moment to address the play of his most highly-scrutinized freshman, Bronny James.

Earlier this year Bronny suffered a medical emergency that many worried would keep him out all season. Somehow, the youngster rallied back. Unfortunately, his conditioning simply isn’t back to its normal capacity yet.

Enfield said as much while speaking to the media.

“Bronny was very solid,” Enfield said.

“He’s still getting back into basketball shape. He gets winded, so we have to give him breaks, but he’s really good at asking to come out of the game. He’s a very impressive young man.”

Bronny recorded five points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals in 15 minutes of play off the bench.

“He gave us good energy off the bench. He just needs to keep getting better,” Enfield added. “It’s only his fourth game, and so he’s a big part of our team, like our other guys, and we need that. We need all of our guys to improve, including him.”

Bronny’s early-season woes with USC have been the topic of a lot of conversation over the past few days.

That said, Enfield doesn’t seem particularly concerned.

Over the last few years not many young people have found themselves under the magnifying glass in the way Bronny consistently has. His dating life is under constant scrutiny; the women he hangs out with are always front page news; and Bronny’s most recent bad game is always used to define him.

Through it all, Bronny has always maintained a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

He never lets anything get him down.

Will Bronny’s unflappable, strong-willed mentality ensure that he eventually experiences success at USC? One way or another, an answer will emerge soon enough.
