Patrick Beverley Reveals Hardest Player To Guard In NBA

Patrick Beverley is known for two things: his defensive tenacity and brutal honesty.

The 33-year-old tapped into both characteristics this week to address who the toughest player in the NBA for him to guard is.

During an Instagram live appearance, Beverley was pressed on who the hardest cover in the league is for him.

The answer wasn’t necessarily surprising, but it did catch some people off guard.

“So far it’s been Luka [Doncic]. Easy,” Beverley said. “I’m on his [expletive] this year, too, though. I gotta get my link back.”

When someone asked why it wasn’t someone like Washington Wizards superstar Bradley Beal, Beverley offered a fairly rationale explanation.

“The thing about Brad is they put him in a lot of downstream action and all that,” he said. “For me, I just use my strength when it comes to that [expletive]. That [expletive] really kind of easy to guard. But no, he is tough, too. Brad is tough, too.”

Beverley’s position is understandable. Over the course of six career match-ups, Doncic has lit him up to the tune of 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.

Whether he is being brutally honest about getting traded for the second time in three days or being ultra-disrespectful to arguably the most powerful female figure in the NBA, Beverley is never one to bite his tongue. He says what he means, for better or worse. So if he’s saying Doncic is the hardest player to guard in the entire league, fans can rest assured that he is telling the truth.
