Josh Primo’s NBA Future In Doubt After Accuser’s Identity Revealed

Josh Primo’s NBA Future In Doubt After Accuser’s Identity Revealed

The San Antonio Spurs released former first round draft pick Josh Primo this weekend in a move that sent shockwaves throughout the league.

Primo is just 19 years old and had consistently been regarded as an integral part of the franchise’s future plans.

Less than 24 hours after the Spurs made their move, news emerged that their decision came as a result of multiple allegations of Primo exposing himself to women.

The lurid details of what specifically the youngster did came out not long after that.

On Monday the San Antonio Express-News reported that ex-Spurs consulting psychologist Dr. Hillary Cauthen is one of the women who accused Primo of improprieties.

“Tony Buzbee will discuss allegations made by Dr. Cauthen and others against NBA player Josh Primo, the events that precipitated the release of Primo, the veracity of recent public statements made by both the Spurs organization and Primo, interactions with individuals within the San Antonio Spurs organization, and the expected path forward,” a press release received by the San Antonio Express-News from the Buzbee Law firm read.

“Dr. Cauthen will be present to make a public statement and answer pertinent questions.”

Both Buzbee and Dr. Cauthen are set to address the matter on Thursday.

Later on Monday, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski provided clarity on what Primo’s NBA future looks like and why nobody claimed him off waivers.

“There is significant interest in monitoring Primo’s future among numerous NBA teams, team executives told ESPN, but claiming Primo, 19, on waivers would have committed a team to paying him $8 million-plus in salary through the 2023-24 season — a significant risk given the uncertainty surrounding his situation now,” he wrote.

This has been a rough year for the NBA on a lot of fronts. You have rappers publicly threatening stars with bodily harm for bad shooting, players being exposed by their ex-baby mamas, side chicks successfully trapping big names with kids, and of course the Ime Udoka debacle.

Now this is a thing that needs to be dealt with.

It will be interesting to see where Primo goes from here.

At the moment, he is persona non grata around the league. But circumstances can change quickly when you’re as talented as he is.

What does the future hold for the youngster?

Time will tell.
