Charles Barkley On Why He And Tiger Woods Aren’t Friends Anymore
Charles Barkley’s knack for making and then losing his best celebrity friends is unmatched.
It is a matter of public record that he and Michael Jordan were once incredibly close, before a fallout ultimately doomed their relationship. Barkley has been quite open regarding what led to that divorce.
But Jordan isn’t the only big time celebrity friend Barkley has lost. Apparently, he and Tiger Woods were once close. Then when Woods began going through all his personal trials and tribulations, he allegedly simply opted to ghost Barkley.
“I could understand if he was trying to get back with his wife at the time and she said, ‘Hey, get rid of all your old friends,’ and he called and said, ‘This is the situation.’ I would’ve understood that,” Barkley said.
“But I just wish he would have been man enough to call and say that. To just disappear totally was disappointing.”
At one point in time Woods seemed legitimately close with a lot of NBA legends. Jordan’s six-word tip for him about picking up women remains iconic.
Somewhere along the way, though – that ended.
Barkley has never been one to bite his tongue. It damaged his relationship with Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson. It led to Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant cursing him out. And of course it is the central reason for his ongoing beef with Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets.

Through it all, Barkley has refused to change. He is who he is – someone who speaks his mind.
If losing the friendships of Woods and Jordan hasn’t been enough to alter him off his existing path of being the way that he clearly is, nothing ever will.
