Colby Covington Slanders LeBron James With 5-Word Insult

Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has made it no secret that he’s not a fan of LeBron James.

This week, Covington took the pair’s beef to a whole new level in response to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s message for James going viral.

It all began when Ibrahimovic told the Los Angeles Lakers star to stick to sports.

“Do what you’re good doing,” he said.

“I play football because I’m the best playing football, I’m no politician. If I’d been a politician, I would be doing politics. This is the first mistake famous people do when they become famous: for me it is better to avoid certain topics and do what you’re good doing, otherwise you risk doing something wrongly.”

James responded to Ibrahimovic a few days later.

“At the end of the day, I will never shut up about things that are wrong,” he said.

“I preach about my people and I preach about equality, social justice, racism, voter suppression, things that go on in our community because I was a part of my community at one point and saw the things that were going on, and I know what’s still going on because I have a group of 300-plus kids at my school that are going through the same thing and they need a voice.

“I’m their voice and I use my platform to continue to shed light on everything that might be going on, not only in my community but in this country and around the world.”

That in turn led to a response from Covington where he lobbed a five-word insult at James:

“You’re a Chinese finger puppet,” he tweeted out.

Covington didn’t stop there.

“When are you gonna speak up about Hong Kong?” he asked. “You make millions playing a kids game [and] talk about ‘social justice’ but have no problem paying Chinese women in sweatshops pennies to make your products. Slimeball.”

Covington previously threatened James, wore an explicit shirt insulting him, and said some not-so-nice things about his mother.

That prompted numerous NBA stars, including Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, to come out and publicly clown Covington on James’ behalf.

Will James and his NBA friends come together to respond to Covington once more this time around? Or will they simply ignore him?

Time will tell.
