What Ben Simmons Is Willing To Do To Force 76ers Trade

Ben Simmons does not want to play another game as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

After a disastrous playoff run where he became a complete liability on offense and was called out for it by his teammates and coaches, Simmons decided that he had worn out his welcome in Philly. The Sixers seemed similarly over the relationship.

Unfortunately, in the months since, little progress has been made on actually getting a deal done.

The Sixers have made their asking price for Simmons clear, but to date, no one has actually stepped up to meet it. As a result, many have begun to wonder whether Simmons beginning the 2021-22 season on the roster was suddenly a viable possibility.

Not if Simmons has anything to say about it, apparently.

“One scout I spoke to said they wouldn’t be surprised if Simmons considers not showing up to training camp if he hasn’t been traded,” Paolo Uggetti of The Ringer reported this week.

This isn’t the first time reports have surfaced about Simmons’ willingness to go to extreme lengths to force his way out of Philly, but it does reinforce how serious he is about it.

A few days ago, Simmons published a cryptic post on Instagram essentially expressing his desire for a fresh start. Clearly he wants it, badly, and he wants it now. Whether or not circumstances will actually permit him to get what he wants remains to be seen, though.
