'Prima Donna’ Caleb Williams Hated By His Bears Teammates
Caleb Williams was widely regarded as the consensus No. 1 pick heading into the 2024 NFL Draft by people who hadn’t watched him closely at USC.
They heralded him as a generational talent. The next Patrick Mahomes. And so on and so forth.
Those who had been there for his USC run knew exactly what Williams was: an overhyped, decent talent who had a propensity to shrink when he actually had to carry his team. A guy who somehow beefed with teammates and opponents alike.
Oh – and who could forget his thing with feet.

The Chicago Bears ended up taking him first overall, despite warnings that Jayden Daniels would be the better player, and now they are paying the price. While his girlfriend’s decision to put the Bears team logo on her butt was admirable, that is about the extent to which the two have contributed anything of value to this team.
The Bears are currently 4-5 and just fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.

According to Bears team insiders, in addition to wanting Waldron gone, the Bears also wanted to see Williams get benched in favor of backup Tyson Bagent.
“After talking to a few people with knowledge of the situation, players went to Matt Eberflus & Ryan Poles asking them to make a change at offensive coordinator. There have also been a few veteran players requesting Bagent starts,” Marc Silverman of Waddle and Silvy wrote on X.
None of this is a huge surprise.

The warning signs appeared during preseason, when a number of Williams’ Bears teammates noticed what a prima donna he is.
Things have only worsened since.
The Bears made a generational mistake selecting Williams over Daniels, and now the franchise will pay for the price in the decade to come.
