NFL Reporter Annie Agar Apologizes For Controversial Tweets
NFL reporter Annie Agar found herself embroiled in controversy this week after a series of her old tweets went viral.
Agar, who boasts nearly 300,000 followers on Twitter, currently works as an NFL/college football nation-wide correspondent and host at Bally Sports.
While it can be debated how truly controversial her offending tweets are, she still came out and apologized for them on Sunday.
The tweets in question speak for themselves:
As does her apology:
I want to apologize for the insensitive tweets from my past. They were written when I was a teenager and do not reflect who I am today. I have the utmost respect for the athletes and teams I cover. I hope you can forgive teenage me and we can get back to laughing together again♥️

Reactions to Agar’s original scandalous tweets and her subsequent decision to ask for forgiveness varied:
18 and 19 is kinda grown tho You telling us that you changed your mind on Kaepernick and the way King Felix wears his hat? We all know you havent reflected about those tweets since so how and when did those views change? Show us where you suddenly support what Kaepernick has done

You don’t need to. The past is the past. People suck and just want to ruin everything you’ve worked so hard for just for fun. You just keep doing you.

Apology accepted but not needed. (Full disclosure: I have no idea what you may have said & have no intention of trying to find out). Anyone choosing intolerance is undoubtedly blessed to have lived mistake-free lives.
Thank you for your work and insight. You are a joy to follow.

The fact that people dig that long ago just to turn out shit says a lot about their character. This is what happens when you become too “Woke”. We are all human and make mistakes. I’d probably be in hell with some of the shit I said when I was a teenager.

Here’s the thing. She wasn’t joking. Some of these ppl using racial slurs as teens and getting cancelled were being goofy w/ friends. This person spouted off multiple times flat out angry racist stuff. I made jokes as a teen too, but not w/ hateful intent like this lady.

Agar is certainly not the first football reporter to spark controversy in recent months.
Not long ago, an SEC broadcaster got dragged online because her outfit was deemed too revealing.
After that, one of ESPN’s SportsCenter hosts landed in hot water over what she said during a podcast.

None of this is new. And with the way social media and the internet at large saves everything, it’s unlikely to change any time soon.
Will Agar opt to speak any further on this controversy past her apology? Time will tell.
