Brett Favre Gets Brutally Honest About Tom Brady’s Retirement

Tom Brady retired from the NFL this past week after a legendary career that saw him claim seven Super Bowl titles.

Beyond that, Brady ended his professional playing run as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yardage, touchdown passes thrown, completions thrown, regular season victories, playoff victories and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophies.

At this point, Brady’s accolades speak for themselves.

During a recent interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, fellow quarterback legend Brett Favre got brutally honest about Brady’s decision to hang up his cleats.

“What a career,” Favre said.

“I don’t know if in our generation we will see anything even close to it. I just don’t know if anyone wants to play 22 years, and if you do, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong throughout that journey.

“To me, I think about my career and think about mine and compare it to Tom… It’s one thing to play with injury and that’s gonna happen. It’s another to be good long enough and consistent enough that they don’t replace you.”

Favre being this blunt about Brady’s legacy is unsurprising. Whether he is speaking frankly regarding Aaron Rodgers’ handling of the Green Bay Packers, offering an ominous Patrick Mahomes warning or breaking down the true role of politics in sports – he generally keeps it pretty real. This was no exception.

Plus, this Brady shirt Favre once wore tells us everything we need to know about the pair’s relationship.

As for Brady, once the real reason for his retirement emerged it all made perfect sense. His last few weeks in the NFL were an absolute mess and clearly playing football had reached the point of diminishing returns for him.

Based on what Brady has shown up until now, everything he touches turns to gold. Will that incredible run extend to his post-playing career? Time will tell.
