Maria Taylor is one of the most well-known NFL broadcasters in the space today. Following her much-discussed departure from ESPN, she settled in at NBC and currently covers a myriad of topics for the network – including Sunday Night Football.
Taylor is no stranger to generating headlines, and it was more of the same this week.
In a post on Instagram, Taylor shared the details of a major appearance change.

“New Look. Real Me. For the first time in my career I’ve made the decision to wear my own hair on air,” she wrote.
“It’s been a long journey but I AM IN LOVE with the woman I’m becoming and I don’t want to hide her under anything. Thank you @theofficialrazorchic for the cut and color, @beautybypierre for holding my hand through the process, and my friends and family for hyping me up. All my brown girls know this hair journey can be scary, but evolutionary.”
Jemele Hill and Joy Taylor were among the personalities to immediately respond and commend her on the move. The latter, of course is no stranger to making headlines for her own racy wardrobe choices, whereas the former sometimes makes waves for things like transphobia and which members of her family are Donald Trump supporters.
As for Taylor herself – this has been a big year for her.

Her beef with Rachel Nichols at ESPN got so big that even Kevin Durant commented on it. When Nichols eventually was forced into making her exit from the Worldwide Leader in Sports, Taylor’s reaction was perceived by some to be “petty.”
Taylor was also briefly in the news after some deemed her outfit during one of her football broadcasts to be “too provocative,” whatever that means.

In any case, all parties involved seem to be moving on. Taylor appears happy at NBC and is clearly looking forward to continuing her sports coverage there.
How will her new look ultimately impact her going forward?
