The first week of the college basketball season was filled with a ton of twists and turns that nobody saw coming.
Michigan State and Kansas both suffered their first losses of the year exactly one game into the season.
Kentucky lost a home game to an Evansville squad that nobody had ever heard of.
That is three championship favorites out in the span of seven days – all with losses that nobody expected them to suffer.

In the aftermath, Vitale offered his take on who the two top teams in the nation currently are.

“As of today the 2 best teams in college hoops are # 1 Duke # 2 Louisville,” he tweeted out.
While Duke is unarguably the No. 1 team right now, Louisville’s status is a bit more murky.
That being said, given chaotic the last week has been, it does not make much sense to argue or debate these rankings. If recent history has taught us anything, it’s that chances are all teams involved will end up with a shocking loss sooner rather than later.
