Carmelo Anthony is returning to the NBA.

Anthony, 35, has not played a single game in the league this year.

Last January, Anthony and the Houston Rockets agreed to part ways after something of a tense relationship.

Beyond just the fact that Anthony and Houston could never really get on the same page in terms of on-the-court production, their relationship was apparently so toxic that it reportedly deterred other teams from picking him up afterwards.

There was a report earlier this year that the Portland Trail Blazers did their due diligence on Anthony, but given what transpired with the Rockets, ultimately decided not to pull the trigger.

Similarly there have been rumors that the New York Knicks would have picked Anthony up had they acquired Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving – but obviously nothing ever materialized on that front.

This week, TMZ caught up with Anthony while he was out at a restaurant and he assured all involved that he was returning to the NBA.

“We’re figuring it out,” Anthony told TMZ.

When TMZ then pressed him on whether he would really play at some point this year, Anthony’s reply was definitive.

“For sure,” he insisted. “Two thousand percent.”

Will Anthony ultimately end up playing this year? He definitely seems to think so, but time will tell.
