New Favorite In Arch Manning Recruiting Sweepstakes Emerges

The Arch Manning recruiting sweepstakes took a fresh turn this week when a new unexpected favorite for the talented youngster emerged.

To date, three schools have been viewed as the likeliest landing spots for Arch: Georgia, Texas and Alabama.

An unlikely dark horse was also linked to him, but the smart money has always been on him settling with one of the big three.

Of that big three, Georgia seemed to have the leg up on the competition. Until this week.

According to On3 Sports’ Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas has now moved ahead as the favorite to claim Arch:

What is interesting here is that this isn’t the lone model that is suddenly projecting the Longhorns as the new likeliest landing spot for the heir apparent to the Manning Family throne.

Multiple oddsmakers have also made Texas the favorite to nab Arch. A lot of books had the Longhorns at +250 as recently as March, whereas now they’re being given EVEN odds.

Arch is a deeply talented young prospect, hence the mania surrounding his recruitment. There is a case to be made that both universities and the general media haven’t gone this crazy regarding an emerging young high school talent since LeBron James.

You will recall, Arch offering some nameless blonde girl a jokey commitment to her program in bed set the internet ablaze not long ago. That is how nuts this process has gotten.

Up to this point, Arch has kept his cards relatively close to the chest. He hasn’t indicated which program he is learning towards, though he did seem to recently rule one prominent SEC powerhouse out.

Last season Arch recorded 1,913 yards and 26 passing touchdowns through 10 games. In addition, he also amassed 381 yards and six touchdowns rushing.

The talent is there. That’s why there is so much hype. Whether it’s program-altering talent remains to be seen, though.

Where will Arch ultimately end up when it is all said and done?

Time will tell.
