The Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans are two teams heading in completely different directions.
Whereas the latter squad is trying to figure out the best way to build a contender in the future, the former is desperately trying to salvage what is left of Stephen Curry’s prime.
The Warriors recently turned down a big trade offer from the Los Angeles Lakers, but they are still open to making moves.
Ever since he was acquired from the Lakers, Brandon Ingram has proven himself to be a talented player – just not one that fits well alongside Zion Williamson. As a result, rumors surrounding him being dealt have persisted.
This week the Warriors and Pelicans were linked in a blockbuster trade that would send Ingram to The Bay.
As noted by Fadeaway World, there is a very logical trade available that could solve both teams’ problems. In it, New Orleans would get Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and a 2027 first-round pick.
In return, the Warriors get an All-Star in Ingram who pairs perfectly with the players currently on the roster.
Kuminga is a developing star and could be a piece that really comes into his own with the Pelicans. Ditto for Moody. Wiggins has fallen on tough times this season, as evidenced by his girlfriend’s recent cryptic tweets, but he is still a versatile player who was arguably the Warriors’ second-best all-around star during their most recent title run.
As far as Ingram in Golden State – the seamlessness of the fit almost speaks for itself.
While his numbers are down a bit from last year, Ingram is still averaging 21.5 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting from the field and 35.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
He could instantly turn the Warriors into a contender again.
Will this trade materialize? Time will tell. Should it, though? Definitely.
