Is A Big Bradley Beal Trade Brewing Between Wizards, Heat?

The Washington Wizards came into this year with the full understanding that a turnaround was necessary. Bradley Beal had been mentioned on numerous occasions throughout the offseason as a potential trade target, but he consistently remained loyal to the organization.

In a last-ditch effort to shake things up, Washington traded away John Wall in the offseason for Russell Westbrook. To date, the returns on that move are not great. The Wizards are currently 4-12 through 16 games and seem to be going nowhere fast. This has prompted many to ask once again: when will you free (read: trade) Beal?

Last week, rumors emerged of a potential deal that could land Beal in LA.

This week, a new trade option emerged.

That option? The Miami Heat.

As noted by Greg Swartz of the Bleacher Report, Beal to Miami makes too much sense to ignore.

“Miami’s offense ranks just 27th,” he wrote.

“The NBA’s leading scorer could certainly help with that. Bradley Beal is averaging a whopping 35.4 points per game for the 3-11 Washington Wizards. Someone needs to save the 27-year-old, and Miami’s the perfect landing spot.

“While trading for Beal would mean giving up Herro and more (Duncan Robinson? Kendrick Nunn? 2025 and 2027 first-round picks?), Miami should have the assets to pull off a deal while keeping Butler and Adebayo.”

To be clear, this isn’t the first time Beal has been connected to a potential trade involving the Heat. It happened during the offseason and continued to happen as recently as last week.

That said, the urgency as it pertains to both the Wizards trading Beal and Miami needing to make a move is at all-time highs. The Heat, fresh off last season’s NBA Finals appearance, are only 7-12 on the year. Obviously injuries have played a role, but even without them the squad has blatant offensive flaws. Beal would go a long way in addressing them.

If the Wizards don’t turn things around quickly, expect the trade chatter to kick into overdrive as the NBA creeps towards the trade deadline. And based on where things currently stand, the Heat are the likeliest partner in any potential deal.
