The Cleveland Cavaliers are 30-19 on the year and sit third in the Eastern Conference.
Presently, the team is just 1.5 games back of the Miami Heat for the top spot in the East.
Considering that at the beginning of this season Cleveland was mired in controversy and there was talk of a fire sale – this is an incredible turnaround.
And apparently the Cavaliers aren’t satisfied with just staying pat and hoping to continue this amazing run. They’re proactively attempting to improve.
According to Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the Cavs are looking to make some noise ahead of February’s NBA Trade Deadline.
“The Cavs have kept tabs on Eric Gordon, Caris LeVert, Terrence Ross, among shooting guards on the trade market, I’ve heard,” he said.
“The Cavaliers also like Joe Harris from afar, but it would take a star for Harris to be included in any package from Brooklyn’s perspective.”
In addition, Portland Trail Blazers swingman Robert Covington appears to be a player of interest.
“Several teams have called to express interest in trading for Robert Covington, including the Utah Jazz, as Marc Stein first reported, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, and others have also reached out, league sources told HoopsHype,” he added.
Not long ago, the Cavs came very close to trading Kevin Love to a Western Conference partner and Collin Sexton to an Eastern Conference partner
The assumption was that this group would be a seller at the deadline, loading up for a years long rebuild. Now they’re a buyer.

That’s how quickly fortunes change in the NBA.
Will Cleveland ultimately be able to pull off a big move ahead of February’s deadline? Time will tell.
