3 Jordan Poole Trade Frontrunners Emerge Amid Wizards Drama

3 Jordan Poole Trade Frontrunners Emerge Amid Wizards Drama

Jordan Poole’s time with the Washington Wizards has not gone to plan so far.

Over the summer, the Golden State Warriors made the surprising move of trading Poole to the Wizards. The decision caught many off guard because, just one year prior, they had given him a $100 million contract.

Nevertheless, this appeared to be a perfect opportunity for Poole. He could finally be the No. 1 guy on a roster – something that never would have happened for him in The Bay.

So how have things gone for Poole thus far? Not great.

Poole’s plus-minus so far in 2023 has been -14.2. On top of that, his stats across the board are the worst they have been since his sophomore season.

Unsurprisingly, the Wizards are reportedly already open to trading Poole. If that does occur, three squads seem to be frontrunners for his services.

The most obvious one is the Miami Heat. Poole obvious comes with a lot of attitude issues, but the culture within this organization would deal with that.

After teaching the 24-year-old to be a smarter player, Miami could then take advantage of his inherent scoring prowess. If there is one thing Poole can do, it’s put up buckets.

If not Miami, the New York Knicks make a lot of sense as well. They need more consistent offense, and Poole can provide that in droves. There are also enough smart players in New York right now to mask some of the dumb things that Poole does regularly.

This could be the perfect opportunity for the Knicks to dump Evan Fournier, too.

Finally, don’t sleep on the Memphis Grizzlies. Bringing Derrick Rose in to replace Ja Morant clearly didn’t work. Poole would be a more natural fit in that role. And the team likely wouldn’t have to give up much to get him.

One way or another, it is increasingly looking like Poole isn’t long for the Wizards. Where will he ultimately end up when the NBA Trade Deadline comes and goes this year? Time will tell.
