Stephen Curry’s Blunt Reaction To Warriors Trading Jordan Poole

Stephen Curry’s Blunt Reaction To Warriors Trading Jordan Poole

The Golden State Warriors traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards recently in a deal that netted them Chris Paul.

It was a somewhat stunning move, given that the front office had just given Poole a four-year contract worth up to $140 million one offseason prior.

That said, between his lingering beef with Draymond Green, tense relationship with Klay Thompson and growing dissatisfaction with his role on the Warriors — it was becoming clear that the dynamic between Poole and the organization was becoming untenable.

Something had to change – and it did.

This week, Warriors star Stephen Curry offered his blunt thoughts on the Poole-for-Paul trade.

“You hate losing JP,” Curry told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I know it’s not all the way official yet. So I don’t want to talk too much before it is. But that’s the tough part of the business, seeing a young guy come into his own (and then get traded).

“It’s a great opportunity for him. It’s just you get to know someone like that, build a friendship, build a bond. It’s tough to see him go. But, you know, we’re trying to win next year and CP can help us do that.”

Given Poole’s very first move after being dealt, it’s clear that he was happy to be out of The Bay. Head coach Steve Kerr’s comments in the aftermath, also, made it fairly apparent that this divorce was probably best for all parties involved.

Heck, even Curry had some awkward moments with Poole last year.

The Wizards seem to have a clear plan in place for Poole. One way or another, he will either succeed or fail there based on his own skills.

And while Curry no doubt wishes things could have ended differently with Poole, the situation is what it is.

Who will ultimately come out on top when it’s all said and done between Poole and the Warriors? Time will tell.
