Lakers Star LeBron James’ Real Retirement Plan Revealed

Lakers Star LeBron James’ Real Retirement Plan Revealed

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made headlines this week when he once again brought up the topic of his basketball mortality.

When pressed on how much longer he plans to play, James offered something of a cryptic reply.

“Not very long. … I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure,” he said.

“But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.”

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, James already has his retirement planned out – and it doesn’t involve calling it quits after this season.

“Most people I talk to in the league around LeBron James, one or two more years is the expectation,” Charania noted.

“But it’s obvious. Based on his comments, he’s at the end of the road. For players of LeBron James’ stature, it’s hard to come to grips with the realities of retirement. I spoke to Rich Paul today, and he told me, ‘It’s like landing a plane; you don’t just land right away when you’re 45 minutes out. When you descend, there’s a warning, a little bit of an announcement.’”

James is one of the greatest NBA players of all time. And he is someone who likes to get his flowers.

When James does finally decide to call it quits, he won’t do it in a Tim Duncan-style way. Expect a full-on, Kobe Bryant-esque goodbye tour instead.
