Kevin Durant Names Current Best Player, Team In NBA

Kevin Durant is viewed by many as one of the greatest NBA players of all time.

Because of that, his opinion on various hoops-related matters carries a lot of weight.

During a recent session with the media Durant was asked for his honest thoughts on who the best player in the NBA currently is and who the best team in the league currently is.

He didn’t hesitate.

“Every night my best players, my top-5, my GOATs, I feel like every week they change… [the Los Angeles] Clippers are playing great ball. If anything I’ll probably say Clippers and give it to Kawhi [Leonard] as the best player I’ve seen,” he said.

It is hard to argue with Durant’s assessment. Leonard is averaging 24.1 points per game this year on 52.7 percent shooting from the field and 45.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Both percentages are career-highs.

In addition, Leonard is also averaging 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

As a result of his contributions, L.A. is 36-17 at the All-Star Break and sits third in the Western Conference. Just two games separate them from the No. 1 seed Minnesota Timberwolves.

Durant is obviously no stranger to making headlines. Just this weekend he caused a major hubbub when he was busted flirting hardcore with a popular actress and rapper.

Beyond that, Durant has also gone viral in recent months for the surprising NBA legend he modeled his game after, getting called a coward by Draymond Green, and his blunt thoughts on Kobe Bryant’s all-time ranking as an NBA player.

Durant’s propensity for keeping it real is what always makes him a fun interview.

This was just the latest example of that.

The Clippers and Suns seem destined for a faceoff in the playoffs. What will happen when they occurs is going to be fun to watch.
