Joel Embiid Reacts To James Harden Boycotting 76ers Practice

Joel Embiid took a moment on Wednesday afternoon to address James Harden’s decision to boycott Philadelphia 76ers practice.

Coming into this week, everyone’s cards seemed to be on the table.

Harden was angry with Sixers president Daryl Morey for a very understandable reason. Philly was willing to trade Harden, but for a steep asking price. And the Los Angeles Clippers, the only squad known to be interested in Harden, was refusing to part with two key role players in any potential deal.

For the first few days of training camp, Harden seemed like he was willing to play the good soldier. It appeared, initially at least, that he was going to let the process play itself out.

On Wednesday, things changed. Harden opted to boycott Sixers practice and all hell broke loose.

After finishing practicing, Embiid sat down with the media and reacted to Harden’s controversial decision.

“I didn’t know if anything was going on because he’s been here,” Embiid said.

“He wasn’t here today, so obviously I think he probably had something important to do or something came up. But guys know what it is.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation ultimately plays itself out.

Clearly Harden is done being nice. He wants to be traded – and he wants to be traded as soon as humanly possible.

Will his antics ultimately have their desired effect on Embiid, Morey and the 76ers? Time will tell.
