Real Reason Heat’s Erik Spoelstra And Wife Nikki Are Divorcing

Real Reason Heat’s Erik Spoelstra And Wife Nikki Are Divorcing

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra and his wife of seven years, Nikki, are divorcing.

Nikki, a former cheerleader, endeared herself to NBA fans over the years due to her propensity for posting provocative photos on social media.

News of this break-up went viral early Wednesday morning.

A lot of fans were caught off guard.

“We have made the difficult yet amicable decision to jointly file to formally end our marriage,” the pair told the Miami Herald in a joint statement.

“We are both grateful for our relationship and remain fully committed to co-parenting our children and continuing to make them our shared priority. We appreciate everyone’s support as we move to the next stage of our lives and thank you for respecting our family’s privacy.”

The real reason for the pair’s split wasn’t cited, but fans offered up their own theories on the matter.

“Is this the position they are giving Udonis Haslem in the front office?” one person wondered.

“This year’s dance team must have some serious talent,” another person noted.

“Spo is married to the game,” a third person chimed in.

Time will tell how this particular divorce goes, but it can’t possibly be any uglier than Damian Lillard’s split with his wife. Between her exposing his fake ways and his two brutal demands for her, that divorce is about as acrimonious as it gets.

Hopefully things don’t come to that for the Spoelstra clan.

Miami is currently has a 10-8 mark with 18 games already in the books this year. Will Spoelstra’s divorce ultimately impact the Heat’s season in any meaningful way? One way or another, an answer will emerge soon enough.
