Raptors Star R.J. Barrett's Brother Nathan’s Cause Of Death
Toronto Raptors star R.J. Barrett’s younger brother, Nathan, passed away this week.
Nathan was four years younger than R.J.
While he also played basketball, like his big brother, Nathan aspired to become a pilot. According to multiple reports, he was in school pursuing that dream.
Given the abrupt nature of his passing, many have speculated about Nathan’s cause of death.
While the official announcement has yet to be made, Michael Grange shined a light on what transpired in a recent post on Twitter/X.
“He fell ill and had been home for several weeks,” Grange wrote. “Heartbreaking.”
In a statement, it was announced that Nathan was surrounded by family, friends and his church members at the time of his passing.
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved son and brother, Nathan Tyler Barrett, who passed away on Tuesday, March 12, surrounded by his family, church and friends,” the statement read.

“While our family is devastated by this great loss, we will continue to cherish the memories and time spent together. Nathan was a God-fearing young man of strong character. He was thoughtful, kind, loving, compassionate, creative, admirable, and driven.
“During this difficult time, our family would like to ask for privacy but greatly appreciates the outpouring of love, support and prayers that we have been receiving. Though his time with us was brief, he will live forever in our hearts.”
Given some of the ridiculous controversies that captured NBA headlines earlier this week, a tragedy of this nature really puts what’s important in life in perspective.

Understandably, R.J. Barrett isn’t expected to return to the Raptors any time this week as he continues to grieve the loss of his brother.
Toronto is 23-43 on the year and sits 12th in the Eastern Conference.
There is no reason to rush a return.
