Kobe Bryant Once Faced Off Against A Gun-Wielding NYC Gangster
Kobe Bryant was one of the most fearless characters of all time on the basketball court. No matter what happened, he was unflappable.
As it turns out, though – the same rule applied off the court.
This week music industry legend Steve Stoute appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast and shared a fascinating story about Bryant.
Stoute’s story largely speaks for itself.
“We go out to a diner at like 2 or 3 in the morning,” he said.
“The same street guy is sitting there and Kob’ is making jokes about his outfit and being a little loud… The guy sends somebody over like, ‘blah blah wanna talk to you’.
“I go outside, he got the gun out, and I’m like, ‘Yo, he’s a young man, I’m trying to tell him’. That guy didn’t even know who Kobe Bryant is. Kobe comes outside and sees the gun. I tell him to go back in and he’s like, ‘I’m not going nowhere’. On 23rd and 9th Avenue, he did that at 18.”

You could tell Stoute was still taken aback by the events all these years later.
“When he said I’m not going nowhere, I mean, what kind of person is this? I’m giving you the out. This is not your problem, I’ll deal with this problem. He don’t want that, this is our problem,” he said.
Stories about Bryant always hit different. Be it Pau Gasol opening up about the first time he saw his teammate cry or Chris Bosh talking about how Bryant changed his life, the tales are always interesting.

This was no exception.
One of the greatest ways to honor Bryant and his legacy is to continue talking about him. Hopefully stuff like this keeps coming for many years to come.
