An NBA scout weighed in this week on where he believes Bronny James will be selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, should he decide to go pro after his freshman campaign.
As the son of arguably the greatest basketball player to ever live, the spotlight has been on Bronny since his high school days. Despite it – he has remained unflappable.
No matter the health issues that have come his way, the scrutiny his love life has received, or the weird media obsession with his extracurricular activities, Bronny has remained as poised as ever.
That is a valuable skill in an aspiring pro basketball player.
Obviously Bronny’s freshman year with USC will dictate his stock going forward, but the general assumption is that he will thrive just as he has up to this point.
During a conversation with Jeff Goodman of The Messenger, an NBA scout revealed where Bronny will likely land in the 2024 NBA Draft.
“He’s a very good defender. Strong, athletic, good ball-mover, some potential as a shooter,” the scout said. “Limited ability to create his own shot. I don’t see him as a lottery pick or maybe even a first-rounder.”
A high-ranking NBA exec echoed that sentiment to Goodman.
“Personally, I think he should stay in college more than a year,” the exec said. “He needs more time, especially after what he just went through.”

That said, the shadow of LeBron looms large. The Los Angeles Lakers star has made it no secret that he wants to team up with Bronny in the NBA before he retires. And while he is still playing stellar basketball, there is no denying that LeBron is rapidly approaching the end of the road.
Bronny would likely be well-served playing more than one year in college, but that will force him to make a difficult choice. Develop more as a player, or take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with his dad.
Will Bronny ultimately declare for the 2024 NBA Draft? And where will he go once he does? An answer one way or another is coming at some point next year.
