Lakers, 6 Other NBA Teams Send Scouts To Watch Bryce James

Bryce James is one of the most highly-scrutinized high school basketball players in the nation right now.

Up to this point his older brother, Bronny, shielded Bryce from a lot of the headlines. With Bronny heading to USC next year, though – it’s Bryce’s turn to take over at the high school level.

This past week Bryce was a participant at Nike’s Peach Jam tournament in South Carolina. It was a big deal, with seven NBA teams sending someone to watch him.

According to Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Atlanta Hawks all made it a “priority” to send scouts to see Bryce play.

Bryce, who recently transferred from Sierra Canyon to Campbell Hall, has a lot of hype following him at the moment. Given that at just 16 years of age and is already noticeably larger than Bronny, physically he has all the tools necessary for success.

The question is just whether he has his older brother’s mental toughness and resilience. Bronny is absolutely unflappable, regardless of whether people are scrutinizing his love life or his hoops ceiling. He was a much less heralded talent than Bryce, but he rose up the rankings due to sheer willpower.

Does Bryce have the same sort of tenacity in him? That remains to be seen.

But if he does, the sky is the limit for him potential-wise.

Will Bryce one day end up playing for any of the seven teams that came out to watch him this weekend? Time will tell.
