Jordan Poole missed the biggest shot of the night in Game 1 of his Golden State Warriors’ playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
It led to a lot of second-guessing and Stephen Curry’s emotional reaction to it went mega-viral.
That said, it’s hard to blame Poole for taking the open look. He scored 21 points in the game and connected on six of his 11 three-pointers attempted. It just so happened that the most crucial one he took didn’t go in.
After the game Poole explained to the media why he had a largely good Game 1 against the Lakers, but in the process revealed that he was still quite frustrated with his role on the Warriors.
“Got the opportunity to play more out there and catch my rhythm,” Poole said, as transcribed by Shayna Rubin of The Mercury News. “I think that’ll be a big thing. Only so much you can do when you play 15 minutes.
“It’s huge. Being able to catch a rhythm early and see how they’re guarding us, guarding me personally.”
This isn’t the first time Poole has expressed frustration at his minutes this season. It got so bad that Curry had to have a serious talk with him and the rest of his Golden State teammates over it.
Clearly there is still some ill-will there.
The Warriors are in a bad place at the moment. They lost a home game to L.A., and they haven’t exactly been killing it on the road throughout this season.

Poole being unhappy or dissatisfied with his role isn’t great either, even if he is coming off a good game.
Obviously Golden State possesses enough talent to beat the Lakers even with their internal problems. But if they don’t, many will come back to this as a reason why.
Can Poole and the Warriors get on the same page going forward? Time will tell.
