Isiah Thomas’ Latest Brutal Shot At Longtime Rival Michael Jordan
Few rivalries in sports burn as hot as the one that exists between Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan.
The shots that Thomas has lobbed in Jordan’s general direction over the past few years have always made headlines, and this week he did it again.
During a recent interview, Thomas made the case that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is clearly the greatest NBA player of all time.
“I think when you look at, like I say, he’s touched and he leads in almost every statistical category,” Thomas said.
“He’s passed Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] in scoring. I think he’s got the most playoff points. Not only that, when you look at the assist column, I know where I stand on the assist record. I think he’s passed me; I think he’s passed Magic [Johnson] on the assist record. I mean, so when you talk about passing, scoring, rebounding, we’ve never had a player in the NBA that has touched every statistical category and leads in some of these statistical categories that we’re talking about.
“There’s never been another player like him. Now, everyone has their favorites, but if the numbers don’t lie, the numbers don’t lie. And he definitely passes the eye test. So to me, he’s the best that I’ve ever seen from a team standpoint and also as a basketball player.”
Even though Thomas didn’t expressly call out Jordan there, it isn’t hard to read between the lines of what he is saying.
Only one person in this world hates Jordan more than Thomas.
There used to be hope that Thomas and Jordan, as they aged, would find a way to come together and mend fences. But as time has gone on, it has increasingly become clear that it will likely never happen.
