Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant found himself embroiled in a bizarre scheme this week.
Morant, 24, is no stranger to being in the headlines. Because of his gun-related drama over the past year he is set to miss the first 25 games of the 2023-24 NBA season. He has also been the subject of troubling allegations from dancers and is believed to be dealing with some ‘deep’ issues.
That said, what occurred this week is truly next level.
It all started when messages began circulating suggesting that a woman by the name of Yasmine Lopez was planning to ‘trick’ Morant in the same way she allegedly had former Philadelphia Eagles star, DeSean Jackson.
Fans, understandably, had some strong reactions.

That’s on him. Blame the athlete for choosing her.

Embarrassing

But the weirdness didn’t there. Shortly thereafter, a follow-up emerged.
PLOT TWIST:
Yasmine is claiming to know the identity of the woman who faked the messages. The girl she caught with her man two weeks ago!
She said she whooped her a** then and will be whooping it AGAIN. *Gasp* pic.twitter.com/Jo8O5QwXjP

So, essentially, someone is lying here. Either Lopez is the victim of someone besmirching her good name, or she is in some way responsible for what is occurring. Either way, this is a very bizarre scheme.
Thus far, neither Morant nor Jackson have come out to address this situation.

Time will tell if that changes at any point in the foreseeable future.
Morant is obviously no stranger to female-related drama. Between the ladies he has been linked to and the way he effortlessly took Drake’s girl, it has been one thing after another for him.
With the Grizzlies’ regular season on the precipice of beginning, though – this is probably the last distraction Morant needed right now.
