Damian Lillard On Why LeBron James, Kevin Durant Aren’t In His Top 5
Damian Lillard On Why LeBron James, Kevin Durant Aren’t In His Top 5
Damian Lillard’s disastrous first season with the Milwaukee Bucks last year took him out of most people’s top five players in the NBA lists. Although he tried to explain the real reason for his terrible 2024 campaign this week, until he plays better, his reputation among fans won’t change.
This week, Lillard also spoke out about who he ranks among the top five players in the NBA. Interestingly enough, neither LeBron James nor Kevin Durant made his cut.
Apparently, James and Durant don’t crack Lillard’s top five at this point because he feels the other players on his list are more worthy.
“Anthony Edwards, I think everyone super high on him right now but I like him because his energy and his swag is authentic and he got the game to go with it,” Lillard said. “So, I’mma go Anthony Edwards, I’mma go Ja Morant. He got into some trouble so I think people kind of turned off to him a little bit but… I know what I am looking at.
“I’mma go Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant, Luka (Doncic), (Nikola Jokic), and Giannis (Antetokounmpo),” Lillard added. “That’s my five right now.”

Will James and Durant make it a point to go a little harder when they face off against Lillard next summer in an effort to show him they still got it? Time will tell.
