Miami Fan's Videos Causes Stir At Final Four Despite UConn Loss

A University of Miami fan found a way to make an impression this week despite the Hurricanes’ disappointing Final Four loss to UConn.

Heading into Saturday night, most regarded as the Huskies as the best team remaining in the NCAA Tournament. Throughout March Madness they had consistently imposed their will on foes, and the pattern held true this weekend.

While Miami tried, UConn ended up making quick work of them and wound up advancing to the championship game against San Diego State.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Hurricanes, though. One of the program’s most prominent fans still found a way to go viral – even in defeat.

The fan in question, Alix Earle, has quietly become the biggest social media influencer around over the past year.

It was more of the same on Saturday night.

All in all, prominent fans and cheerleaders going viral has become something of a reoccurring theme throughout this year’s tourney.

Between the FAU cheerleader who went viral on Saturday, the San Diego State fan whose wild video set the internet ablaze and the South Carolina dancer who blew up after Caitlin Clark’s big game in the Final Four, it has been one thing after another.

This most recent brouhaha involving Earle is just par for the course.

The University of Miami impressed a lot of people this year. Both the men’s and women’s teams over performed to a significant degree relative to initial expectations.

By any objective measure, the Hurricanes’ hoop programs have bright futures ahead.

Will Miami be able to make it back to the Final Four come next season? Time will tell.
