Memphis Coach Mike Norvell New Favorite For Florida State Job
Memphis coach Mike Norvell is a new favorite for the Florida State head coaching job.
After Willie Taggart’s abrupt firing last Sunday, the college football rumor mill has been in overdrive trying to figure out who Florida State’s next head coach will be.
Part of the reason that there has been such a wide variety of candidates proposed is because no one can quite figure out how attractive the opening is.
Is it still as good of a gig as it was when Jimbo Fisher was at the helm?
If so, then names like Bob Stoops may make a lot of sense.
If not, then maybe someone like Lane Kiffin is in fact a realistic possibility.
According to college football analyst Bruce Feldman, a new name has been thrown into the mix: Memphis’ Norvell.
It’s STILL VERY EARLY in the #FSU coaching search process but one name I’m hearing that is getting some traction there is #Memphis HC Mike Norvell who is 34-15 e/ the Tigers and his buyout is only about $500K: https://t.co/GyBrKen0FL

The interest in Norvell is understandable.
Memphis is 8-1 this year and will likely appear in a bowl game this season. Over the course of Norvell’s tenure with the school they have gone 34-15 and made a bowl game each year.
Who will ultimately take over for Taggart at Florida State?
We’ll likely get our answer sooner rather than later.
