The New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 14-10 on Monday night. It was an ugly, weather-addled affair from start to finish that saw the winning side rely almost entirely on its running game to secure a victory.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, who came into this one averaging 31.8 pass attempts per game, threw the ball three times in the entire game — completing two of those attempts.

Jones connected on a 12-yard throw to Jonnu Smith in the first quarter and a 7-yarder to Brandon Bolden in the fourth. His lone incompletion came on a pass to Nelson Agholor (no surprise there).

One person who didn’t seem to have much of a problem with Jones’ light workload? His girlfriend, Sophie Scott.

This was the message she ended up posting on Instagram:

Scott has become something of a popular figure with Jones’ ascension to mainstream prominence. Her posts now routinely get a lot more engagement on social media:

Many also credit Scott for being the primary reason Jones actually became the Patriots’ starting quarterback this year.

Big picture, Jones’ three-pass showing on Monday night isn’t that big of a deal. As he said after the game, all that matters is pulling out a victory.

“I’m just trying to win,” he said. “It was good that we scored more than the other team, and we did a great job on offense. Josh was just staying calm, and he was calling he plays that he knew that would work. It took all 11 guys. It doesn’t matter how many times you run it or throw it, as long as you win everyone’s going to be happy.”

Beyond that, Jones also stressed the importance of staying within the system.

“We run the plays that are called,” he continued.

“We have a game plan and obviously that changes a little bit with the elements, but at the end of the day I think we had the looks that we were looking forward to run the ball, and we just kept doing it. The offensive line created the holes, and those guys did some tough running, not even mentioning the receivers getting in there to block, too. Everyone played a role and it was just great to watch and see everyone have the effort.”

Clearly the Patriots have a smart young player in Jones, and he will likely continue to experience success going forward. As that happens, expect Scott’s brand to grow as well.

As we have seen in the case of Jared Goff’s girlfriend, Kliff Kingsbury’s new girlfriend and Zach Wilson’s better half, the women behind the men leading these NFL teams often experience popularity spikes in direct correlation with their partners.

Will the pattern hold true here? Time will tell.
