The New Orleans Saints fell to the Miami Dolphins 20-3 on Monday evening.

As a result of 20 eligible players being out for various COVID-related reasons, rookie fourth-string quarterback Ian Book got the starting nod for New Orleans.

On his third play of the game Book threw a pick-six, and that served as a good preview for what would ultimately occur over the rest of the evening.

When it was all said and done, the former Notre Dame star finished with 135 yards, two interceptions and zero touchdowns on 12-of-20 passing.

Fortunately, it wasn’t all bad news for Book. While he didn’t look great on the field, he is clearly doing well off it. He seems to have a very caring and supportive girlfriend who expressed her enthusiasm for his big start on social media:

For anyone doubting how quickly NFL quarterback girlfriends can blow up on social media, look no further than Zach Wilson’s girlfriend, Trey Lance’s girlfriend or Mac Jones’ girlfriend. Obviously the type of content they share on their respective pages helps, but the growth of their pages in 2021 has been staggering.

And if they start adding some racier content, like Dak Prescott’s better half, the growth becomes exponential.

Big picture – it’s hard to hold Book’s debut against him. The Saints were missing a lot of players and it showed.

That said, he also didn’t do much to change the idea that Notre Dame quarterbacks aren’t well-suited for the NFL and that he was a fourth-stringer for a reason.

Will Book ultimately be able to silence the haters and establish himself as a legit pro quarterback at some point in the foreseeable future? Time will tell.
