A melee erupted during last week’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons.
In the third quarter, while attempting to block out Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart from getting a rebound on a free throw, James landed an elbow to his face.
Stewart did not take kindly to move:

Suspensions ensued.
In the aftermath James came away with one impression regarding what happened, while Stewart expressed another.
That in turn led to others weighing in. Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma offered one take, Brooklyn Nets big man Blake Griffin had another, and Lakers backup Dwight Howard threw out a third. Nobody could agree.
On Wednesday, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green spoke out on his podcast regarding the incident. In the process, he revealed why specifically Stewart snapped the way he did.
“You have teammates coming running in, holding the guy back, pullin’ him away from LeBron and I think they may have made him feel like he should be upset because that’s when he went apes**t,” Green said.
It’s tough to argue with that interpretation.

Big picture, it will be interesting to see how James and Stewart ultimately handle this weekend’s rematch between the Lakers and Pistons. Clearly no real peace has been made between the two, which feels like a recipe for disaster.
Will a second brawl ultimately pop off on Sunday? Time will tell.
