Texas Football Looks To Make Major Coaching Change
Texas football looks to make a major coaching change with the hiring of its new offensive coordinator.
Coming into this season, expectations were extremely high for the Longhorns.
Many thought they would build on the momentum established in 2018 and challenge Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship. From there, perhaps even compete for a National Title.
Obviously that did not end up happening, though.
Texas finished 7-5 on the year, again, and then watched Baylor put together the sort of season they should have had in 2019.
Following the conclusion of the year, Tom Herman set out to make major changes to the coaching staff.
Herman started by demoting Tim Beck, the program’s previous offensive coordinator.
From there, he reportedly set his sights on Ohio State passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich.

According to Brett McMurphy, Yurcich is a very serious candidate for the role.
“Ohio State passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich is leading candidate to become new OC at Texas, sources told @Stadium. If Yurcich is hired at Texas, he would remain with Buckeyes thru @CFBPlayoff. Minnesota OC Kirk Ciarrocca also possibility for UT OC job,” he tweeted out.
Prior to landing with the Buckeyes, Yurcich coached Oklahoma State from 2013-2018.
Texas is unlikely to pull the trigger on any move until after its bowl game.
The Longhorns will square off against No. 11 Utah in the Alamo Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
