Real Reason Nick Saban Abruptly Retired From Alabama
Nick Saban’s abrupt decision to retire from his post as the head coach of Alabama football sent shockwaves throughout the sports world.
In a week where J.J McCarthy’s girlfriend’s leaked private photos and a Michigan cheerleader’s racy pictures were the major viral stories around, Saban’s decision to step back from his iconic role was stunning.
So far, two big theories have presented themselves to address the “real reason” why Saban chose now to call it quits.
The first was offered by current Colorado head coach, Deion Sanders:
WOW! College Football just lost the GOAT to retirement. WOW! I knew it would happen 1 day soon but not this soon. The game has change so much that it chased the GOAT away. College football let’s hold up our mirrors and say HONESTLY what u see. #CoachPrime @CUBuffsFootball

Saban has obviously made it no secret that he isn’t a fan of the NIL and all the new transfer portal rules. Sanders’ assessment that the rapidly-changing college football landscape may have influenced the Alabama legend’s decision could be on the money.
The other big theory floating around is that Saban will be Lee Corso’s replacement on ESPN.
BREAKING: ESPN has eyed legendary coach Nick Saban as Lee Corso’s possible successor for a long time now, per @MMcCarthyREV.

Saban would be fantastic in that role. As proven when his incredible recruiting video leaked out, the man has a way with words.
Translating that to ESPN’s weekly college football coverage shouldn’t be too hard of a transition for him to make.

One way or another, Saban is about to embark on a new chapter in life. What that will ultimately look like for him remains to be seen.
