Nick Saban and Alabama are in big trouble, says Paul Finebaum.
Heading into Saturday’s big Iron Bowl showdown between the Crimson Tide and Auburn, everyone knew the stakes were high.
If Alabama won then a postseason berth was still within reach. A loss meant the end to the season.
Ultimately, Auburn pulled out a gutsy victory this weekend and now the hot takes regarding what it means for Alabama are flying full force.
On Monday, Finebaum appeared on ESPN and issued a dire warning regarding what this loss means for Saban and his program.
“The point is this is not the Alabama we’re used to,” he said.
“We’re used to Nick Saban’s teams playing pretty flawless offense and defense with the exception of special teams. You expect a kicker to have trouble at Alabama.
“That’s baked into the DNA of the Saban era, but not what we saw with the penalties, 13 penalties, false start across the board, undisciplined, and that’s coming from players.
“We’re not talking about pundits here.”
Are things really as dire as Finebaum and other college football analysts are making them out to be? It all depends on how Alabama responds next season.
