Is Jim Harbaugh leaving the University of Michigan for the Washington Redskins?
That is the question being asked on Friday morning after an interesting new column penned by USA Today writer Michael Colangelo.
With Jay Gruden clearly on his way out, folks have begun to scan the wastelands for his potential replacement.
Brian Kelly’s name has been floated, but barring a total collapse by Notre Dame this season, it is hard to see him making this move.

Offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell has been a popular name that has been floated in a lot of NFL circles, so that is certainly a possibility.
But according to Colangelo, a marriage between Harbaugh and Washington D.C.’s beleaguered franchise could make a lot of sense.
Harbaugh has been struggling this season to live up to the lofty preseason expectations set for his Michigan squad.
They already have one loss on the year, and figure to finish at least two by the time everything is said and done.

Although things between Harbaugh and Michigan are less tense than they are between Gruden and the Redskins – the margin is probably a lot closer than it should be.
“There’s an easy way out for Harbaugh,” Colangelo wrote.
“All he has to do is say he got an amazing opportunity in the NFL and he thinks it’s best to move on.

“It would be a failure since he didn’t live up to expectations at Michigan, but an NFL head coaching gig is a pretty good golden parachute.
“Harbaugh to Washington is almost too obvious.”
Will Harbaugh ultimately end up in D.C.?
