Arch Manning Dark Horse Transfer Frontrunner Emerges Amid Texas Rumors
Arch Manning’s role with Texas is very much up in the air heading into the 2024 college football season.
Earlier this week, Quinn Ewers announced that he would be returning to the Longhorns for his senior campaign. For obvious reasons, that is bad news for Manning’s prospects as far as playing next year go.
Manning came to Austin with a ton of hype surrounding him. The recruitment process centering around where he would go to school was insane. At point, the hysteria was so intense that a video of him in bed with some blonde jokingly committing to her school nearly melted the internet.
This week, amid the news that Ewers was returning to Texas, odds were released on Manning’s likeliest transfer destinations. The most likely landing spot for him if he does opt to move on? Ole Miss at -150.
Manning’s relationship with Lane Kiffin is a matter of public record. And while Kiffin has a tendency to make more headlines for off-the-field stuff like his cheerleader girlfriend than on-the-field accomplishments, he is still a very good coach.
It will be interesting to see if that proves to be enough to sway Manning away from the bright lights of Austin.
The next three favorites for Manning’s services if he opts to leave are LSU at +200, Alabama at +450 and Tennessee at +900.
It seems unlikely that any of those schools will ultimately pry him away from the Longhorns, though. Brian Kelly’s time at Baton Rouge hasn’t evoked much in the way of confidence; the Crimson Tide have a new coach; and the Vols are on a downswing (even though their cheerleaders do have a certain propensity for wild photo leaks).

More likely than not, Manning will remain with the Longhorns. That is why Ole Miss is a dark horse.
But if he does go somewhere, they are the clear favorites.
Can Kiffin pull one more trick out of his hat and steal Manning away from Texas? Time will tell.
