Maryland Cheated Out Of Victory Over Purdue By Refs (Video)
Purdue defeated Maryland 31-29 on Saturday afternoon, but the victory didn’t come without controversy.
Given that the Boilermakers came into this one at 3-2 and the Terps were 4-1, there was a lot on the line.
In light of the stakes, Maryland fans found themselves understandably displeased when a bad call by the refs essentially cost them the game.
The sequence at the center of all the controversy involved speaks for itself:
@B1Gfootball Purdue #10 is obviously offsides leading to this block! #BadRefs #TerpsFilmBreakdown #TBIA #PurdVsMD pic.twitter.com/34lWWrn16V

Fans had some pretty strong reactions after the fact.
This gets called if the teams were reversed. https://t.co/zn0zDXc4k8

Purdue blocked this XP to, eventually, cost Maryland the game. No offsides called.
The Terps will be sending this one into the Big Ten office, methinks. https://t.co/WZnNOauuJW

The B1G has had a crisis of officiating now for the past 5 years or so, noticeably downhill and seeming no accountability

Looking forward to Maryland getting another apology from the Big Ten on this one. Yay. Had to go for 2 at end because of these a-holes. F this conference and their trash officiating. We are close to averaging an apology per week from these idiots. #NotOffsidesInBigTen. https://t.co/fmbPCtVqOe

How do you miss this call and then make that call on the 2 point conversation!!! https://t.co/ajobukbYG9

Sadly, this is becoming par for the course in college football. Bad officiating was a problem last week, and the week before that, and the week before that.
It’s an institutional issue at this point.
There is a lot of fun stuff going on in college football these days. The cheerleaders going wild; players flirting with girls midgame; and of course, Coach O being Coach O. There is so much to look forward to every Saturday.
Even Tom Brady can’t be good at everything. https://t.co/FyOI7PhExN

But these bad no-calls are getting ridiculous.
Official cannot be permitted to completely alter the course of games the way they are.
If this doesn’t get resolved soon, it will do permanent and irreparable damage to college football as a whole.
