Did Rutgers’ Greg Schiano Snitch On Jim Harbaugh, Michigan For Cheating?
Did Rutgers’ Greg Schiano Snitch On Jim Harbaugh, Michigan For Cheating?

Michigan and its head football coach, Jim Harbaugh, found themselves at the center of an unfortunate controversy this week.
On Thursday, word emerged that the NCAA was investigating the Wolverines over alleged sign stealing.
“Late Wednesday afternoon, the Big Ten Conference and University of Michigan were notified by the NCAA that the NCAA was investigating allegations of sign stealing by the University of Michigan football program,” the Big Ten said in a statement.
“The Big Ten Conference has notified Michigan State University and future opponents. The Big Ten Conference considers the integrity of competition to be of utmost importance and will continue to monitor the investigation. The Conference will have no further comment at this time.”
Given that Michigan is currently the No. 2 ranked team in the nation, this allegation against the program is obviously a huge deal.
Harbaugh has always been a zany character. Between his unique way of handling young women (unlike Urban Meyer) and his embarrassing flirtation with the NFL, he is a lightning rod for headlines.
But this is next level stuff.
According to Yahoo Sports, multiple Wolverines opponents from this season believe that Michigan stole their signs.
“Two of Michigan’s opponents this season told Yahoo Sports they became aware that Michigan knew their play signs,” the report noted.
Shortly after the allegations against Harbaugh and Co. went viral, a video of Rutgers head football coach Greg Schiano from earlier this season began to trend.

“Well, there’s some stuff going on out there so we just got to slow it down a little bit,” he said during halftime of his squad’s game against Michigan.
“There’s some things going on that aren’t right as well so we’ll talk about how to handle it… We’re in the game we just got to keep playing.”
Fans immediately took to social media to react to Schiano’s cryptic message.
I watched that live, and was trying to figure that coach speak out. Now we know!

Rutgers would go on to lose the game 31-7.
For what it is worth, Michigan is maintaining its innocence and promising to cooperate with the investigation.
“I want to personally assure you that U-M Athletics will offer its complete cooperation to the NCAA in this matter,” athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement.
“At the University of Michigan, all of us are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity for all members of our community. This is the same expectation I have of all coaches, staff, and student-athletes.”

It will be interesting to see how this investigation ultimately unfolds.
Will Harbaugh and Michigan be vindicated or incriminated when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
