An Auburn star refuses to play in the bowl game vs Minnesota.

While many fans may be excited to see the Tigers battle the Golden Gophers in the Outback Bowl, at least one of the programs will not be at full strength.

This week, Nick Coe announced on Instagram that he will not be participating in his team’s bowl game.

Coe had a superb sophomore campaign for the Tigers. In all, he recorded 26 tackles and seven sacks. Unfortunately, his production fell off in his junior year after Auburn shifted him from defensive lineman to linebacker.

Coe is now electing to enter the 2020 NFL Draft, and as such, will opt not to participate in the looming bowl game.

“Although, I realize that I am not a finished product, I have decided for reasons that are personal to me to forego my remaining eligibility at Auburn, including the Outback Bowl,” Coe wrote on Instagram.

“Hopefully, my time at Auburn will be a foundation for success in pursuing my long standing dream of playing in the NFL.”

Auburn head coach Guz Malzahn will now be tasked with determining the best way to replace Coe’s production among the linebacker group.

Auburn and Minnesota will square off on New Year’s Day.

  1. I thought it should be noted that Auburn sit out Nick one game due to failure to “meet expectations”. He also wasn’t fully utilized during many games. I wish Nick well but don’t think that the coaching staff or teammates are worried about him electing not to participate in the bowl game.

  2. Its a business move. Some are not going to agree but thats the results of putting yourself before others when making a “life changing decision.” I can understand his decision. You lose yourself in the team for so long you have to a few selfish moments at times. Its life.

    1. I certainly hope he is not drafted another player who knows best only interested in himself but wants to play a team sport
Perhaps should have chosen tennis or golf.
