Christian McCaffrey needs a big game against the New York Giants this weekend, and nobody understands that better than his girlfriend Olivia Culpo.

Last week, in the Carolina Panthers’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns, McCaffrey was largely forgettable.

The 26-year-old did record one touchdown, which obviously was a welcome sight, but he struggled to make much of an impact on the offense. He managed just 3.3 yards per carry on the day, which is a far cry from the 5.0 yards per carry he was doing in his heyday a few years back.

When Carolina inked McCaffrey to a four-year, $64 million deal, expectations were slightly grander than 33 yards rushing and 24 yards receiving against bottom-dweller squads like the Browns.

Which might explain why Culpo appeared to be on hand in New York this week, as evidenced by her Instagram activity:

It’s unclear whether Culpo will attend the Giants game or not, but she’s definitely nearby so it would make sense for her to.

Culpo has been a mainstay by McCaffrey’s side over the past few years. So much so, in fact, that many have wondered if “good times” with her have taken a major toll on his health. Obviously there is no way to prove that theory, but his injury history speaks for itself.

McCaffrey went from being someone who played in 16 games per year to someone who has struggled to stay on the field for more than 10 combined over the past two seasons. That’s not great.

In the process, he has made more headlines for Culpo’s racy posts to him, their provocative pictures together or their very revealing fashion decisions than any substantive on-the-field accomplishments.

McCaffrey needs a big 2022-23 NFL campaign. There is no denying that. There is a reason he almost got dealt to a Super Bowl favorite during the offseason. The Panthers have reached a breaking point with him.

He didn’t get off to the best of starts against Cleveland, but there is still time for McCaffrey to make it right.

And it begins with a strong outing against the Giants.

Will McCaffrey be able to deliver against a New York group that looked surprisingly resilient in Week 1?

Is Culpo going to be there to cheer him on?

The answer to both questions is less than 24 hours away.
